Robert Waring Darwin (30th May 1766 - 13th November 1848) silhouette made some time around 1826. Robert was the father of Charles Darwin. Robert wanted Charles to be a medical doctor, as he was, (and his own father, Erasmus, before him). Being over 6 feet tall and some 24 stone, Charles described his father in his autobiography as the largest man I ever saw'. He also described him as the kindest man I ever knew'. Darwin once recalls being admonished by his father saying, you will be a disgrace to yourself and your family'. He clearly was not that. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
