Framed Print of Inoculating chicken eggs
Inoculating chicken eggs. Medical researchers working on treatment for bird viruses. At left, one researcher is marking the eggs, while at right, the other researcher is inoculating the eggs with a virus-containing substance. These are chicken eggs. This process allows the researchers to assess the susceptibility of domestic poultry to different strains of viruses. It also allows them to develop vaccines to prevent infection by viruses such as the avian influenza virus. This work is being carried out at the All-Russia Avicultural Research Institute in St Petersburg, Russia. Photographed on 28 February 2006. Science Photo Library features Science and Medical images including photos and illustrations. © RIA NOVOSTI/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
