Morning glory flower pollination. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of pollen grains (orange) on the stigma of a morning glory flower (Ipomoea learii). The pollen grains, which contain male genetic material, have become trapped by the stigmas papillae (tiny projections, yellow). The stigma is part of the female reproductive structure (pistil), which is formed from one or more carpels. Each carpel consists of a stigma, a style and an ovary (not seen). If the female sex cells (ovules) in the ovary become fertilised by the pollen grains male sex cells, the carpel may ripen to produce a fruit containing seeds. Magnification: x150 at 6x7cm size. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
