Plesiosaur attack, artwork
Plesiosaur attack, artwork. Plesiosaurs were marine reptiles that inhabited the seas throughout the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods from around 200 to 65 million years ago. They were not dinosaurs, despite living at the same time. It is thought that they fed mainly on fish. They breathed air, like modern turtles, and may have returned to beaches to lay their eggs. The largest plesiosaurs reached up to 15 metres in length. Plesiosaur fossils have been found in Europe, Australia and North America

EDITORS COMMENTS
"Unleash the terror of the ancient seas! This stunning artwork depicts a Plesiosaur in mid-attack, its massive jaws wide open as it chomps down on an unsuspecting prey. These marine reptiles roamed our oceans during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, around 200 to 65 million years ago. Despite not being dinosaurs, they were formidable predators that fed on fish and other sea creatures. Reaching lengths of up to 15 meters, these aquatic giants were a force to be reckoned with.
This illustration brings us back to a time when the ocean was ruled by these incredible creatures. With their flippers propelling them through the water and their sharp teeth snapping shut around their prey, it's no wonder why Plesiosaurs are often referred to as "sea monsters". Take a journey back in time and experience the thrill of encountering one of these prehistoric predators up close."
